Mianyi Kamiya vs. Taki 1 [Finished]

Kenji was a clumsy, round looking boy from Taki. He had a goofy smile on his face. He wore shorts and a large shirt, much too large for his body. He had a shuriken pouch and a kunai pouch strapped around his right leg. He waves to his opponent, "Hey, how are you?"

Mianyi knows better than to put much stock in appearances when it comes to other ninjas. She's also wary of the friendly wave and attitude, but it isn't in her nature to be rude. "Nice to meet you," she says in a voice that is both stiff and timid.

While saying this she prepares to start off quickly, trying to get an early advantage in the fight. For her opening move she uses Wind Release: Rotating Shuriken to send several shuriken hurtling towards Kenji with wind chakra enhancements.

Kenji's face straightens and he dashes towards the incoming shuriken. He dodges a couple with his speed, and even catches one with his hand. The last two slice past his shoulder and the side of his thigh. As he begins to gain ground on Mianyi he begins to step to his left than to his right so fast it looks like there are three Kenji's coming to Mianyi.

Mianyi has no time to be impressed with Kenji catching one of the shuriken. Regardless of whether or not there are one or three Kenjis coming at her, Mianyi reacts with a Wind Release: Great Breakthrough to not just blast him with wind, but hopefully push him back while she jumps backwards to increase the distance between the two of them.

The blast catches Kenji off guard and sends him backwards, but he is able to catch himself and scurry forward again, this time running faster than ever before. As he gains ground on Mianyi, he gets ready to deliver a chakra-filled strike to her body.

Mianyi is pretty much certain she can't avoid that. Rather than waste energy or effort on avoiding it, but she prepares for the inevitable and gets ready to turn it into an opportunity. When he gets close to her, but before he strikes, she uses her B-rank Poison Mist technique to exhale a large cloud of poison that he should be unable to dodge at such close range. Hopefully that will do something to lessen the impact, but she doesn't expect him to completely stop. She steels herself for the impact and remembers what she learned from Tonou, intending to hit back and blast chakra through her fist at him once she's been hit.

Kenji is taken completely off guard by the counter attack. "What the-?" Kenji takes the punch fully and is sent backwards to the edge of the arena. The chakra infused attack has knocked his headband off and left him wreathing on the ground in agony. In a dramatic and completely unexpected turn of events, Mianyi won the fight just a few minutes in. Shocked gasps erupt in the crowd, and the proctor hesitantly walks up to an injured Kenji.

Mianyi is surprised too, and it takes her a moment to realize what happened, mostly because she is reeling from the broken ribs that come from having taken the hit that let her poison and strike Kenji. She looks over at Kenji for a moment, then at the proctor as if in shock. She numbly nods and then walks off slowly, taking care to not move too much to aggravate her ribs.
