Name: Omoikane
Village(s): Genjutsu Tree Village, Lock Village, Kirigakure, Kumogakure, Yumegakure
Kekkai Genkai/Bloodtrait: Chakra is subconsciously gathered in the body and controlled to store and process information - dramatically improving mental faculties. However, consumption of this Chakra means that the clan member would suffer a loss of ability proportional to the amount of Chakra used. This can result in a permanent loss of memories and a temporary loss of cognition, inhibitions, motor control, etc until Chakra stores have been replenished. Anything/anyone within the users’ aura may also be inspected/analyzed without consumption of the stored Chakra (acts as a Genjutsu ability if used on human minds).
Background: Legends of the Omoikane tell ancient tales of great men of unparalleled intellect; brilliant ancestors whom even the sages would seek out for wisdom. But these were tales from years long forgotten. As far back as anyone can remember, the Omoikane have been known for their intellect; but more-so for their tragic curse. On rare occasion, when a member of the Omoikane becomes pregnant, the entire household will begin a gradual descent into paranoid hysteria; often resulting in the murder/suicide of anyone unfortunate enough to bare the final brunt of their mental breakdown. Because of the emotional toll this curse has taken on the clan, many Omoikane fear companionship and become pariahs within their communities. Over the decades, their reclusive nature has led to a drastic decline in their population.
Though the vast majority of the Omoikane know about the clan’s curse, all but a trivial minority are even aware of the possibility that the clan carries a Kekkai Genkai (much less that this trait is the cause of the curse). As an infant with this ability develops, so does its inspection ability - causing everyone in its aura to grow paranoid and experience delusions of watchful eyes and intrusive thoughts after prolonged exposure.
Despite their issues, the Omoikane clan have long been revered for their mental abilities. So, the few that are left often become advisors to the politically elite or high-ranking military strategists. However, their careers are often short-lived as they prefer isolation and quiet study.
