The Raiken Clan

Kekkai Genkai/Bloodtrait: The Raiken have the the ability to use the 'Black Lightning' techniques. Black Lightning is similar to Raiton (the lightning element), but doesn't follow the elemental rules. Black Lightning isn't really an element at all, but a chakra form that only Raiken clan members can create. First chakra is used to create a standard jutsu, however, when using a Raiken clan technique, the chakra turns into Black Lightning. Black Lightning is dark chakra in a dense state that looks like lightning, however uses more tendrils than bolts. If touched, it feels like lightning, but contains a burning sensation as well. Most Raiken members can utilize Black Lightning. It is not stronger than regular Lightning or any other element for that matter, but has different properties such as the burn and tendrils that make it unique.


Background: The Raiken are a simple clan. They have been around since before the time of the great villages, fighting for contract like many other clans. As clans began to align to the great villages, the Raiken were among the first to join Kumo. Known for their proficiency in Ninjutsu and elemental arts, they quickly arose as one of the strongest clans in Kumo. Over the years the Raiken have expanded all throughout Kumo taking on various jobs as such as Academy Instructors, Medical Nin, and generals during war-time.

Raiken don't have a specific appearance because of all the marrying and branching that has happened over the years. The original Raiken had blonde-hair with slender but tall bodies. They were most identifiable by their dark blue eyes. However now days Raiken clan members are only identifiable by the Raiken Clan symbol generally present on an article of clothing. The symbol is a lighting bolt striking the ground. The ground is cracked in two from where the lightning struck.

Raiken clan members are usually extremely loyal to the village, a trait established through culture and parenting. Most Raiken clan members dedicate themselves to the village and earn positions within Kumo that ultimately benefit it. Usually Raiken members are ambitious and driven. It's rare to find a lazy Raiken member, such as Kei, the current Raikage. He is simply an abnormality despite his true Raiken appearance.

The Raiken are lead by their current 'Thunder'. The Thunder is the title given to an elected Raiken council member once that person has achieved the right to be the voice of the clan, thus the title Thunder. At the moment the Thunder is Soujen Raiken, a tall, muscular, blonde-haired Jounin who is known for his speed and agility in battle. He is soft-spoken and kind, always trying to push his clan to do more for Kumo.
