The Desert Rose [Open] Empty
PostSubject: The Desert Rose [Open]   The Desert Rose [Open] EmptyFri May 01, 2015 10:05 pm

The scorched lands of Sunagakure, were just as beautiful as they had been when he had stepped into office. Looking over his grand village form his office window, Satoru couldn't help but feel content with what he had. "Tokujin . . . put aside office work for now, I want to go to the greenhouse." As Satoru spoke his words, his advisor sighed in disappointment and Sachio and Kinkaku looked over at their Kage. "You guys can stay put for now." They nodded and went about their business as Tokujin walked with Satoru out the door. Down the hall they strolled, Satoru with his Gourd of Iron Sand on his back and Tokujin with a look of anguish on his face. "You don't have to look so excited." The man chuckled and shook his head as they began to descend a flight of stairs and entered the lobby of the Kage Mansion. Not a word spoken to Satoru as they exited the Mansion, it was just how he liked it. The Kazekage wasn't one for small talk or unneeded conversations and found much peace in silence and letting ones presence speak and that's exactly what the duo did on the way tot he greenhouse.

At a tandem pace they strolled, as Satoru gave weak smiles to the citizens who waved at him or smiled towards him. "I'm surprised you haven't handed down the seat to someone else yet to be honest." Satoru nodded and let the words sink in before answering. "I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about doing such a thing every time the wind blew . . ." Tokujin chuckled as the two turned a corner and he looked up tot he sky. "But I think this position is right for me and I think I do a good job of protecting the village." "That you do, that you do." In peaceful silence the two continued to walk the streets of Sunagakure until they finally arrived at the greenhouse, one of Satoru's favorite places to visit.

After Mianyi spent a day assisting at the Suna Medical Clinic, which included working in the greenhouses to help grow medicinal herbs for use in treatments at the clinic, Mianyi has returned to the greenhouse from time to time to learn some herb lore in her free time at the cost of helping them with whatever chores are needed. She happens to be leaving from a session at the greenhouse when the Kazekage is arriving.

She bows her head respectfully at the sight of the Kazekage at the greenhouses. "Lord Kazekage," she says quietly in greeting.

Satoru entered the greenhouse and took in the refreshing sent of plant life. It smelled of foreign lands, nothing like a natural habitat in the Land of Wind. Seeing a genin bow to him, Satoru respectfully raised a hand in an acknowledging motion. "That's Mianyi a pretty active Genin. She was among the ones you sent to assist Konaha in the recent Kusagakure attack." Tokujin wasn't quite next to Satoru's ear as he whispered, but still his words were hushed at only a tone him and Kazekage could hear. Nodding with a faint smile on his face, his lips parted to speak to the girl. "I'm glad to see you're amongst the ones that made it back from Konoha. Sorry you had to go through such things, but your work doesn't go unnoticed . . ." His eyes moved from the girl for a moment to scan the area, before lazily falling back on her. "If you aren't busy, would you care to join me and my advisor Tokujin for a few moments?" Satoru honestly didn't know where he was going with this, but given the fact the girl seemed so young and was sent out to war, it was the least he could do.

Mianyi resists the urge to physically squirm with anxiety with the Kazekage so near and talking to her, but while she can suppress that, she can't quite keep a blush of slight embarrassment from gracing her cheeks when he speaks words of praise. She almost doesn't seem to hear his invitation to join him and his advisor, pausing for a moment as if to process it before she quickly nods her head, "Y-yes sir!" she stammers out.

Satoru's gaze wandered from the nerve bomb onto the plants of the greenhouse. Walking at a casual pace, he was well aware of the effects his presence had on people especially with a Genin of such young age, but he paid no mind to it. In fact he was glad to see he had such an effect. It meant the people weren't too comfortable around him and he had respect, hopefully not too much stemming from fear however. "What were you doing here before we came?" His eyes were busy admiring the plants one which he crouched in front of and read the plaque giving and analysis about the flora, before they rose back up to the plant awaiting the answer from the girl. Tokujin was following not to close looking at other species, but mentally keeping tabs on how the girl was handling being in Satoru's presence. He needed to get the Kazekage a pupil soon, someone to train to be his successor one day. Perhaps it wasn't this girl, but he still needed to see how the youth reacted to Satoru's demeanor.

Nerve bomb would indeed be the most accurate description of Mianyi at the moment. She walks along meekly and shyly, almost as if she's attempting to will herself into invisibility or merge with the background. In her case it is not so much fear of the Kazekage himself, but fear of somehow disappointing him or not living up to expectations, as well as that usual anxiety that comes from feeling judged. Despite her strong showing at the tournament, she can't help but continue to suffer from a bad case of Impostor Syndrome and doubt herself. It was a fluke, right? Someone's going to find out that she's not all she seems to be, and today might be the day the Kazekage realizes she's been duping everyone.

"I-I was helping. Helping them with planting and… learning about herbs… I want to be a medical-nin someday." She replies, clearly nervous and shy. "Sir," she adds on quickly, almost having forgotten to properly address the man. If he looks her way she'll meet his gaze very fleetingly.

Satoru hated the "Sir" title. It was much too formal, but he wouldn't be telling anyone to stop addressing him as such anytime soon. It kept the fine line of business and leadership painted and he would very much like to sustain such a line. The stumbling over words Satoru was used to, especially with the ninja's at Chunin and lesser ranks, but it never failed to be painful to the ears. Like sour strings plucked on a violin, he mentally flinched at each stutter and was in pain with each lasting pause. Irritated? Yes, but it was understandable, so Satoru didn't really show any signs of irritation nor did he hold it against the Genin. Moving to another set of flowers -Eighteen Scholars- they were a beautiful set of plants with many many many layers of petals, at least eighteen on each plant. "A medical ninja huh? Like a doctor . . . or s scientist kind of medical ninja?" Satoru was genuinely curious, for the Medical Nin route was full of odd souls either pure and dedicated to healing or twisted and dedicated to science and some times creating deadly poisons and even the most powerful of Kinjutsu.

Tokujin made it apparent his focus was on the girl awaiting her answer. Either answer was acceptable, even if the child was conducting forbidden experiments Satoru wouldn't care as long as it was for the good of the village. Tokujin was the same, but taken slightly off guard by Satoru's interesting the girl's studies.

Little does Satoru know, Mianyi stumbles over words when confronted with just about anyone who is a stranger. Even Tonou gets stutters out of Mianyi. Maybe someday she'll grow out of it, but for now she's too nervous and the Impostor Syndrome weighs too heavily on her. "A doctor… although... I'd like to learn some poisons to help defend my friends. And cure the ones that get poisoned by whoever our enemies might be." She's far too modest to brag about her current talents, such as the poisonous mist she wielded to great effect in the tournament, or the incident in the Kumo-Konoha war, although it's entirely possible Satoru may have read a report on that from Tonou.

Mianyi tries to also enjoy the plants that Satoru is admiring, but the feeling of being under a microscope makes it hard for her to do so.

Satoru nodded, his peek of interest in the girl gone like a rogue breeze out in the endless desert. However, Satoru would continue to dig deeper with the girl and continue communications. He wasn't much of a talker, but for some reason he felt it was his duty to do so or that he was obligated to. Perhaps a small mix of pity played into his reasoning as well.

"If you want to learn about poisons then perhaps you can start here." He walked over to his favorite plant of them all and the exhibit he had come to visit in the first place. "This is the Desert Rose." He admire the beautiful plant for some time before looking softly to Mianyi then turning back and crouching down before it. "Very alluring appearance, but the sap is highly poisonous even touching it can be harmful." Tokujin had stayed behind examining some other species, still keeping an ear on the conversation however. "Do you have a favorite plant?" He internally loathed himself for asking such a tasteless small talk oriented question, but it was something he needed to improve on.

Mianyi dutifully follows the Kazekage, wondering what knowledge he has to impart on her today. She admires the desert rose. "It is very beautiful," she replies sincerely as her eyes take in the appearance of the deadly flower.

At his question she nods, "I like the Noly Plant. It's rare and only grows in the mountains far from here, though. I like it because the flowers make a healing tea, but below the ground it's roots make a deadly poison." The dual nature of the flower appeals to Mianyi and is something of what she aspires to be, a useful healer beneath which a deadly poison specialist is hidden.

Satoru nodded to the Genin's answer. It was quite an intriguing sounding plant, he mentally bookmarked it in case he came across it in his travels. "Sounds like a fitting favorite for someone of your interest." He stood and gave the Genin a weak smile before turning to Tokujin, who looked at him expectantly. "Hmm?" "I think it's time we head back, it's been a long enough break." It had only been fifteen minutes and Satoru could have taken a thirty minute break if he wanted, but he'd rather not. He liked being on top of things and having somethings done ahead of time rather than complete right on time. Tokujin nodded and had already known Satoru would head back early, for he always did. "It's about time to let those pesky dogs Kinkaku and Sachio out anyways. I bet their itching to get out the office." Satoru chuckled lightly at the thought of his two guards left behind probably bored to death in the dim lit room, probably strangling each other in irritation. "Yeah wouldn't want them to kill each other . . . without me present to watch at least." The latter he mumbled beneath his breath, but it was heard by Tokujin anyhow.

"Don't scare the youngling now Satoru." The advisor covered his mouth as he snickered mischievously and Satoru gave a weak gaze in Mianyi's direction. "I'll be taking my leave now, it was nice speaking with you." With that the two casually walked to the door, before vanishing with a shroud of black sand -Iron Sand- via the Body Flicker.
