The Cold Dawn of War. (Anyone)

The moon had set over the village hidden in the leaves. It's light illuminating the streets with a warm glow. The town was quiet for the most part, the shops were closing down and few shinobi could be seen outside the gates cleaning up the different battlefields. All outside Konoha battles had broke out as Kusa attempted to attack the Hidden Leaf.

Krysto sat above the head of the Fourth Hokage. Through the years many more hokages had been engraved into the mountain, but he had always felt a connection to the Fourth.

He had only been home for a few hours, He had debriefed the Hokage shirtless and covered in blood though he himself had just one minor cut. After that he went home where he took a warm shower. As he washed his body, the memory of his enemies shrouded his thoughts. He pictured their terrified faces as he mowed them down. Dozens of defenseless civilians had lost their life at his hands.

~It had to be done.. they wouldn't have spared any of ours..~

~Protect the village..~

"How do i know if i did the right thing.. I protected my people by killing dozens of others.. There must have been another way.."

A cold breeze ran through the trees and alongside the mountain. His short hair danced with the wind as the breeze caressed his skin. He put his palms on the ground and leaned back, looking up at the star light sky.

Daisuke caught himself wandering about halfway through the previous night. He had awoken, already outside and into the street below. He wasn't sure why he began to wander, he just knew there was bound to be a purpose somewhere. He made his way up along the mountain ridge over looking the village. Off in the distance a sun slowly began to rise. He continued his climb up to the Hokage faces. That's where he saw his team mate Krysto. He sat next to Krysto, not saying a word. Sometimes words didn't need to be spoken.

Ryuu had been up late night practicing his Medical-Ninjutsu. After not learning a single jutsu he wouldn't let his dream die out. After many hours of training he decided to go outside. Being very careful to not wake up anybody in clan he successfully got out carrying a bottle of water, 2 kunai, a paper bomb, and a granola bar. He got to the main street and saw barely anyone walking around. Being as noisy as he was he was he unlocked his

Byakugan:

. Looking around everyone was in their homes sleep, some awake but barely. He looked up seeing two people, not clearly but seeing two people. Not knowing who they were he carefully ran up the mountain ridge. As he got closer he recognized the 2 people. They were both genin from the leaf. Trying to not be seen he quickly hides behind a tree.

Kotetsu was out walking the village, in his black robe, and restless from anxiety and thoughts so he couldn't get any sleep. His thoughts were drifted off, mainly thinking of the impending war. So as a result of it being on his mind, Kotetsu decided to visit the cemetary to pay his respects unto the fallen shinobi that were buried there. He himself knew none of them personally and hoped to keep it that way. "Thank you for your actions," Kotetsu said over the tombstones. "When your time came to die, you were not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. You sang your death song, and died like a hero going home." Sorrow now seemed to fill his heart at the thought of so many deaths. Then before leaving he said his last piece, "The dead cannot cry out for justice. It is a duty of the living to do so for them, so the life of the dead is awake and real in the memory of the living. I too pledge my life to protect Konoha."

After saying his piece and bowing in respect, Kotetsu headed over to where the great sculptures of the Hokages' faces are. To where he looked up and noticed two people atop of it. From here he couldn't see ryuu hidden.

Krysto noticed that Daisuke had joined him. It had been a while since the two genins from team 1 had seen each other, ever since the Konoha six meeting.He remained silent, he'd noticed that Daisuke seemed to be in the same mood as himself. Another gust of wind caused the trees behind the hOkage mountain to dance. As Krysto looked out into the village he decided to break the silence.

"The Village is safe, that's all that matters."

"Indeed." Daisuke didn't have anything more to say to his team mate. The morning was still and calm. They had been joined by other Konoha Genin but no one had done much to acknowledge one another. It was as if all of them were hung over from a stupor that wasn't likely to end any time soon.

Ryuu comes from behind the tree but he doesn't move. He just looks upon the village watching the sunrise. He quickly deactivated his Byakugan and continued to watch not caring if he were to be seen by the other genin.

As Kotetsu gazed upon the monuments of the great Hokages, he couldn't help but to think, Those are true shinobi, they were selfless, righteous, and even compassionate. "You all have seen countless battles," his words now echoed aloud and rang through the cool and quiet dawn. "And through your experiences and choices, you determined peace is the greatest thing. For Anyone who has ever looked into the glazed eyes of a soldier dying on the battlefield will think hard before starting a war." Kotetsu hesitated and thought briefly before continuing, "You all have also taught the village what the fear of living is. It's being preeminently afraid of dying. It is not doing what you came here to do, out of timidity and spinelessness. The antidote is to take full responsibility for yourself - for the time you take up and the space you occupy. If you don't know what you're here to do, then just do some good."

After finishing his last piece, Kotetsu then refocused back on the genin placed atop of the sculptures. To where now he seen the original two, as well as another one that is not to far away from the two, by some trees. By now his curiosity was peaked and decided to investigate the unknown shinobi. From this distance he wasn't even able to tell out the faces. So he decided to move in closer by, following a trail that led to the top, which in turn led him to the rest of the shinobi.

Shiko was wandering around town like he usually did. This time it was different, He was wandering because he could not sleep. His mind had been racing with thoughts of war, his emotions, and mixed feelings. "What did this mean?" he thought. He was going to be the head of the Nara clan one day. Did he deserve it though? was he the right person to be the head of the clan? these are the thoughts that pushed him to leave and try to clear his head. Things would not be the same.

He saw the other Genin, he recognized from around the village but had actually interacted with very few. He made his way to them.

"Y'all too, eh?" he asked assuming everyone was having similar thoughts. He laid down looking up at the sky. It was a clear night and the stars were just starting to poke through the heavens. He hoped his question would spark a conversation, and maybe, just maybe, someone would walk away feeling better. He knew it was not going to be him.

Krysto gives shiko a slight nod. He hadn't really had any interaction with the him, but knew all too well what he meant. The morning sun broke over the horizon. The warm glow illuminated the village as its future remained in silence.

~This is worth fighting for. This is my village~

Krysto stood up and dusted off his black shinobi pants. He looked around and noticed his fellow comrades. It was a crazy thing.. at such a young age, they'd already participated in war, and some had already killed.

"We're alive.. We protected our village. We should take this to heart, there are enemies out there far more powerful than those we faced. We must continue to grow stronger to ensure the safety of our village.

Daisuke nodded to Shiko. "If we had been moments sooner we could of saved that village. Have you talked to Kauzu at all?" Daisuke noticed as more Genin began to pop up here and there.

Ryuu had walked from behind the tree and sat down beside the both of them. He wanted to speak but he let his silence overcome his will to speak. He had seen the genin around but had no words for them. He wondered if they had recognized him.

Upon arriving closer, Kotetsu is able to see that there are four other shinobi besides himself, but didn't feel the need to be exactly next to them. So instead he sat about 5 feet from them as he gazed upon the sunset, with his mind drifting on about what he has been through so far, and what he will to come. Our whole lives we search for knowledge and the truth to reality, and with that comes the burdens and pains to match. By now the birds were beginning to lightly chirp, as they did every morning, which snapped him once again from his thoughts. "Who knew ignorance would become more blissful with time," his voice was low but seemed to echo over the feint noises of the birds.

Shiko is in a drowsy state, He was close to falling asleep. He got up and nodded to whoever happened to take notice. He either had cleared his head enough to fall asleep or got so worn out he had to sleep either of which meant he could to go to bed. He headed home.

Krysto took one last look at the village, then looked at the few that had joined. As the first genin left, he knew it was time to head home as well.

"Knowing that I'm not the only one really makes it feel better.. "

He gave them a fake smile, and waved goodbye as he began making his down the mountain.
