The Diamond of Iwa Empty
PostSubject: The Diamond of Iwa   The Diamond of Iwa EmptyTue Apr 21, 2015 12:51 pm

Kei and Seiya stood silently at the edge of the Waterfall Country. Any moment Aka (Tomoe) and an ANBU member from Konoha would arrive with them. They were originally going to Kusa, but Kei would let his vengeance wait until after the tournament. Right now it was important that Kei found Hana before her insurrectionists were able to act. Hana was the Tsuchikage, and although she was cunning, her and Kei were still, all things considered, friends.

When Aka and her ANBU assistant arrived Kei turned over to them, handing them Kumogakure headbands.

"Use Henge to transform and then put these on. That way she thinks you are my guard from Kumo. She won't have reason to suspect anything out of the ordinary."

Aka/Tomoe and her ANBU assistant arrive at the agreed upon rendezvous point at the edge of Taki. Both of them are wearing plain and simple clothing, a nondescript dark grey tunic over black pants, with a plain traveling cloak and hood. Aka/Tomoe is still wearing her mask and the ANBU with her has on one in a similar style. The ANBU appears to be male and announces himself as Shiro.

"A wise plan," Tomoe/Aka replies, taking the headband. She quickly and effortlessly uses the henge jutsu to alter her physical appearance. She stands taller and of broader shoulder and wider hip than before, though other physical features beneath cloak and hood cannot be seen, though were she to remove her hood she would have short blonde hair instead of her long dark braids, and a pair of blue eyes peer out from her mask instead of brown. She removes the mask briefly, revealing the unfamiliar features of 'Aka', to put the Kumogakure headband on, then readjusts the mask.

Her ANBU companion undergoes a similar transformation, altering his own physical characteristics and taking the headband as well.

"Good, now it would be best if you let me do the introductions. Aka, I'm going to title you as my new liaison so you will have full liberty to enter the conversation as you'd like."

The four sprinted into the Earth Country, traveling as fast as they could go. In a matter of seconds Iwa shinobi surrounded them from all sides, sprinting along side them. Kei looked over to his left and his right, holding up his right hand allowing the Yellow, Kanji-in-scripted bracelet to show. The Iwa shinobi nodded and sprinted ahead. By the time the four of them arrived at Iwa's gates an escort guard was waiting for them

"This way." Said a scarred Iwa shinobi.

The group followed the shinobi into the Administration Building. Instead of going to the Tsuchikage's Office they entered a conference room on the first floor. The room was large but only consisted of Hana and two shinobi.

Hana was a pretty woman, with light-brown hair and a radiant smile that seemed to gleam in the darkly lit room. Her eyes were an ocean blue, deep near her pupils. She sat in a chair directly in front of the group, two ANBU members on either side of her, each on one knee. Hana stood up and walked over to Kei giving him a quick hug and a kiss on each cheek in greeting. Seiya tensed up, but Hana ignored it.

"Back so soon Little Bolt? I hope you didn't come back thinking I would reconsider an alliance by you looking all rough and tough."

"So long as being your new liaison doesn't mean being left behind in Iwa," Aka says half-jokingly, referring to her duties in Konoha that would prevent her from taking up such a post for Kei.

Aka and Shiro play the part of an ANBU escort. Both are silent and stand near the Raikage, clearly alert and watching everything that goes on in the room. Both would offer their polite bows to the Tsuchikage at the appropriate moment. If it bothers Tomoe/Aka to be taking back seat to the Raikage, it does not show in her behavior.

Kei ignores the gesture for the most part. Kei looks over to Aka, Shiro, and Seiya. A few lies and deceit would be needed to convince Hana of what had occurred in Kusa. Thinking for a moment Kei turned back to Hana, a rare look of seriousness on his face.

"Hana, these two ANBU members," he gestured to Shiro and Seiya, "arrived in Kusa three days ago with a third Kumo ANBU member. They were sent to spy on what we had discussed when I last visited. I'm sorry I accused of having ties with Kusa, but I wasn't wrong in thinking that Iwa had a hand in it. Some of your shinobi were seen conversing with Kusa shinobi about a possible Coup in Iwa. My ANBU were found out and attacked, one didn't make it home."

Hana looked taken aback, and her beauty only increased when in shock. She narrowed her eyes at Kei, and then turned to the ANBU, then back to Kei. For a few moments the entire room was dead silent, and then she looked back towards her ANBU.

"You were right Fenir. Go ahead and assemble a team and find out who else has been helping her." The conversation didn't make since to Kei, but he had seen that she believed him to some extent. Perhaps there was a rumor already in place.

"Tedious times, aren't they Little Bolt? Tell me who the third is, if they were not apart of the spying scandal." The word 'scandal' rolled off her tongue and she stepped over to Aka, starting into the eyes of her mask. She looked at Seiya and Shiro, eyeing them up and down, and then back to Aka.

"This is my liaison. She will be leaving with me as well, but I brought her for this discussion. I trust her with village relations, so if she has questions, she is asking them on my behalf as well."

Hana flicked her eyes over at Kei when he mentioned 'she', but she turned back to Aka with a smile. "You didn't need a liaison when you last visited did you Little Bolt? Perhaps you an I should just discuss matters without armed Shinobi all ready to pop at the slightest quick movement."

"If you could be serious for once Hana, I would appreciate it." Kei's words came out almost like a growl. Serious, and to the point.

Aka/Tomoe takes this moment to focus more on observation than on strategy and diplomacy. She takes in the interactions between Hana and Kei, as well as Hana and others in the room to get a sense of the situation and learn what she can from body language and the choice of the Tsuchikage's words.

Aka/Tomoe finds the phrase 'find out who else has been helping her' to be quite interesting indeed, and files that away as something to look into later, if possible. Additionally, the swiftness with which she labels the incident that brought her and the Raikage here a scandal is something of note. And suspicion.

When the Tsuchikage stares into her eyes, Aka maintains a passive return of that eye contact, one which is not challenging, merely observant, as Aka would expect of an ANBU who is there to observe and assist in diplomatic matters such as this. When introduced as the liaison, Aka bows and speaks simply, "Greetings Tsuchikage-sama."

The borderline insults and banter go unremarked on, but observed.

"Hello, dear."

Hana turns and walks back over to her chair, sitting down in dramatic fashion, over-exaggerating every movement. She looks back at Aka, interested in watching Kei as she ignores him and addresses someone else.

Meanwhile Kei catches the look she sends Aka and smiles. He knows she is attempting to annoy him by addressing Aka not knowing that she is really Tomoe. Ready to watch the Hokage take the lead he walks over and finds an empty chair, sitting in it.

"Tell me dear," she says addressing Aka, "What do you think about this sudden tournament in Kusa?"

Aka/Tomoe can't help but notice the the Tsuchikage's more than obvious attempts to get the Raikage riled up. An interesting method of approaching 'diplomatic' matters such as these.

Still playing the role of Aka, the Hokage does not help herself to a seat or make herself comfortable, but continues to conduct herself like a ninja in the presence of superiors, and replies simply and in a straightforward manner.

"I find it suspicious, ma'am," she replies. The use of the address ma'am is of course carefully chosen to come across as respectful, but needling, as the Tsuchikage seems the type of woman who would be at least slightly offended at being called ma'am. "I think they're up to something," she elaborates, "and we should make sure our homes are well protected when we leave them." She looks to the Raikage just like a subordinate would look to her superior for approval.

"You sound smart, but you are stating the obvious. Our ANBU are just as capable of protecting our home as Kumo." She then turns to Kei, "As for you Kei, I hope you understand that the only interest we have in Kumo is your presence in privacy. You seem to disagree with that fun thought so I am going to ask you to kindly leave."

"Hana," Kei walked up to Hana and grabbed her hands, "I am trying to help you. If Kusa is a threat and Iwa-nin are collaborating then Iwa will be the first target." Hana looks at him for a moment and then stands up. Her voice is slightly shaken but she still commands firmly.

"Go ahead and escort these nin to the border."

Aka stands straight beneath these criticisms lobbed her way. "Then I hope that your home remains as safe as Kumo's during the upcoming tournament, ma'am." She says this in a non-threatening and sympathetic voice, suggesting she sincerely wishes the Tsuchikage and Iwagakure safety in the upcoming weeks and months. The only part that isn't genuine is that ma'am reference, again intended as a subtle jab to the vain Tsuchikage.

She continues to watch the interaction between the Raikage and the Tsuchikage as a subordinate would, patient, quiet, and waiting. She does not act when the Tsuchikage orders them escorted to the border, but waits for the Raikage's 'command'.

Kei looks taken back, and obviously a little hurt, but never the less he turns, give a silent look to his group and follows the escort. Hana would see only her decisions, and unfortunately they would lead to Iwa's demise.

***

Once safely inside Taki's border, Seiya removes his mask, and turns to his Raikage. "She had a suspicion, maybe we were able to convince her to act." Seiya was trying to be positive by Kei knew better.

"No, she is scared. I can tell, I knew something was up when I visited, but something is still not right. Their weak, and she knows it. We need to keep an eye at the Genin from Iwa this tournament."

Aka/Tomoe does not remove her mask or transformation, but she does shake off the act she has been playing at until now. "I saw denial covering wounded pride that outsiders are more aware of what is going on in her village than she is."

"It is hard to blame her. She is a ninja, as we all are, and for all she knows our intentions are to destabilize her village." Tomoe turns her gaze to the Raikage, looking at him directly. "Ninjas from different villages tend to work against each other more often than with each other, after all."

With a sigh she adds on, "Still, if the wrong people get a toehold in Iwa, that would be burdensome for the rest of us."

Kei returns Tomoe's gaze, but this time his voice is starting to tune down to a calmer tone. Rarely do we underestimate people, Tomoe. But this time, I would safely say that if she thinks she can handle it, then she'll find a way to handle it. As for now, I leave you and your ANBU member to return to Konoha. I will see you in Kusa, though I don't think we will be discussing anything politely." With a smile and a wink Kei turned and darted westward, toward Kumo, Seiya right behind him after a brief nod to the Hokage.

Tomoe nods slightly in agreement. "I've know doubt that any of us could handle anything thrown our way. The question is at what cost."

She smiles wryly at the Raikage. "Yes, I doubt we'll have much in common or kindness after this. Farewell and safe travels. I expect we'll meet again after the tournament."

With that she and her ANBU assistant begin to head off to Konoha, traveling some distance from where they part ways with the Raikage before removing their masks and disguises.
